For the past 20 years,
I wondered if you had been like me,
desperately longing to see the world's top
ranked tennis players demonstrate their skills,
right here in Taiwan. Yet year after year,
the chance grows smaller and smaller,
until I began to wonder if the dream would ever come true.
In early January this year (2010),
I had the opportunity to take our youth players to join
the Australian Open Junior Tournament.
During the two weeks of our stay in Australia,
I became profoundly touched by the magnitude of pride
and inspiration the tournament brought to the Australian people.
Even when I have returned to Taiwan,
my mind could not put off the desire to
host international tennis events in Taiwan.
Considering the current limitations in hardware
and software in Taiwan tennis environment,
I must face the reality that holding an ATP-level tournament in Taiwan
in the short term is unlikely.
I turned to my good friend, Dirk Hordorff,
a German coach who has helped some of the best players in Taiwan.
He suggested for him to come in contact with Agassi and Safin's agency
to formally invite these two world-class players to play in Taiwan.
Together with Taiwan's own stars, Lu and Wang,
total of two exhibition games will be held
in Taipei Arena and Kaohsiung Arena.
After three months of negotiation,
we have finally been able to officially sign the contract
with the players and announce to fans in Taiwan
this long-anticipated tennis event.
Immediately, we received massive replies
in cheers and encouragement on the Internet.
Thank you, all the fans and tennis lovers,
our dream has come true!
